First franchise store opened in Hong Kong in 2009, catering to customers outside of Taiwan, it proved the international recognition of the brand and its successful business model. In Korea, Gong cha was named the best bubble tea store in 2014; with over 200 stores just 2 years after its launch.

In the U.S., Gong cha opened its first store in California in 2013. Since then, we’ve rapidly increased our customer following and have opened 29 stores in California, with more to come, plus many stores on the east coast in numerous states to keep up with the demand for our quality drinks and stellar reputation.

As we continue to expand throughout California, we are excited to reach new markets and serve more customers. We require a minimum of 5 miles between store locations. Exceptions can be made at the franchisor’s discretion for cities with high population density such as San Francisco and Los Angeles.
